Ambassador Fei Shengchao Bids Farewell to Somali Leadership

On 31 March, H.E. Ambassador Fei Shengchao paid farewell calls respectively on H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud and H.E. Prime Minister Abdi Hamza Barre.

Ambassador Fei took stock of the development of China-Somalia relations during his tenure. He said that over the past three years, under the strong leadership of the two heads of state, China-Somalia relations have come a long way, with fruitful cooperation and exchanges in various fields. Ambassador Fei said China appreciates the Somali government’s important progress in improving security, lifting the arms embargo and advancing debt relief process in recent years, reiterating China’s strong commitment to working with Somalia to carry forward the traditional friendship and expand the bilateral cooperation so as to foster the two countries’ relations and making further contribution to Somalia’s peace, stability and development.

H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and H.E. Prime Minister Abdi Hamza Barre both lauded Ambassador Fei’s contribution in promoting the traditional friendship between Somalia and China during his tenure and extended their best wishes to the Ambassador. They said that Somalia, appreciating the long history of China-Somalia friendship, attaches great importance to the friendly relationship with China and looks forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields, so as to embrace the continuous development of the bilateral relations.

During the past days, Ambassador Fei also held farewell meetings with Somali cabinet ministers such as H.E. Ali Mohamed Omar, Acting Foreign Minister, H.E. Abduqadir Mohamed Noor, Minister of Defense, H.E. Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, Minister of Education, H.E. Jama Hassan Khalif,Minister of Communications & Technology, H.E. Ali Haji Adan, Minister of Health and H.E. Daud Aweys, Minister of Information, as well as representatives of the UN and other international organizations.
