‍On 6 December, H.E. Fei Shengchao, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, was invited to attend the event celebrating the lifting of the arms embargo on Somalia and delivered remarks. Somali President H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Somali Prime Minister H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, Cabinet Ministers, as well as representatives from diplomatic missionsand international organizations in Somalia attended the event.

Ambassador Fei congratulated the Somali government and people, saying that after the long term efforts of the Somali government and people as well as the international community, the United Nations Security Council finally adopted relevant resolutions to lift the arms embargo on Somali Federal Government, which was a hard-won achievement. China has always called on the Security Council to adjust or remove unnecessary sanctions on African countries to achieve Africa-led and Africa-owned peace, security and prosperity. As a reliable partner of Somalia, China will continue to support Somalia in strengthening security capacity building, improving weapons and ammunition management, actively carrying out anti-terrorism operations to lend new impetus to safeguarding national security and stability.
