On 13 September, the Chinese Embassy in Somalia held an award ceremony for the Somali children who participated in “My Dream” Painting Competition for African Youth. The Somali participants of the competition joined a live broadcast event held in the main venue in Beijing, which featured a dialogue between Chinese Taikonauts and African youths. H.E. Ambassador Fei Shengchao and State Minister of Somali Ministry of Education, Culture & Higher Education, H.E Nura Mustaf Mukhtar, attended the ceremony and presented awards to the children.

There were 10 first prizes in this competition. 7 Somali paintings were selected as entries and the dove for peace painting drawn by a six-year-old Somali boy Kawkib Mahamud won the first prize. The dove painting was launched into space and exhibited in China's space station, making history in space. H.E. Ambassador Fei Shengchao spoke highly of the children who participated in the competition and applauded their excellent talent. He expressed the hope that the winner and participants will continue to pursue their space dreams and write a new chapter of friendship between China and Somalia. The Chinese Embassy in Somalia would continue to actively promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, he said.

State Minister H.E. Nura Mustaf Mukhtar commended the Chinese side for providing solid support and assistance to Somalia in education, encouraging Somali children to pursue their dreams and making contributions to Somalia-China friendship. The children thanked the Chinese side for hosting this competition, which provided them with the opportunity to pursue their space dreams. They expressed the wish that the Chinese side continue to hold activities like this, providing more Somali teenagers with the opportunity to realize their dreams and carry forward the friendship between Somalia and China.
