On August 24, H.E. Ambassador Fei Shengchao attended the farewell ceremony for Somali students on the Chinese Government Scholarship for the 2023-2024 academic year. Dr. Hodan Osman, the Human Capital Development Senior Advisor of the Prime Minister's Office of Somalia, and Mr. Ismail Yusuf Osman, Director General of the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education of Somalia attended the event. More than 30 people from the 2023-2024 academic year scholarship recipients and their family members, and representatives of previous scholarship recipients participated in the event.

H.E. Ambassador Fei congratulated the students on getting the opportunity to study in China. He expressed the hope that the Somali students will be successful in their studies and make due contribution to the peaceful reconstruction of Somalia, the promotion of China-Somalia cultural and people-to-people exchanges and the deepening of the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Dr. Hodan and Mr. Ismail congratulated Somali students on their education opportunities in China and appreciated China for its consistent support for talent training for Somalia. The Somali students who ranked the first and the third in the national examinations this year and last year, are also among the students heading for China. Somalia will continue to send outstanding students to study in China in a fair and equitable manner.

Somali student representatives thanked the Chinese side for this opportunity, saying that they will earnestly study professional knowledge in China and constantly consolidate and expand the traditional friendship and cooperation between China and Somalia.

Representatives of previous Somali students studying in China shared their experience through video recording or on-site introductions. The atmosphere at the scene was warm and lively, with active interactions, demonstrating the passion for and depth of China-Somalia people-to-people friendship.
