On August 21, the Chinese Embassy to Somalia held a farewell ceremony for Somali diplomats participating the training seminar in China. H.E. Ambassador Fei Shengchao, H.E. Dr. Hodan Osman Abdi, the Senior Advisor and National Coordinator of Human Capital Development in the Office of the Prime Minister of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Adan Hadow, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Mr. Abdisalam Suleiman Kodar, Director of Asia and Australia Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, attended the ceremony and delivered remarks.

Ambassador Fei said the friendship between the two countries has a long history. As the pandemic situation changes, the physical exchanges between the two sides will be all the more closer. China conducted extensive cooperation with Somalia in various fields, and will continue to support Somali human capital development and Somali diplomatic capacity building as always. He said as an old saying goes, “Seeing is believing”. He hoped all diplomats will take this opportunity to feel and experience a real China. At the same time, they will hopefully have more exchanges with Chinese friends, sharing the story of Somalia, the story of China, building bridges of friendship between the two countries.

Dr. Hodan, Mr. Hadow and Mr. Kodar thanked the Chinese government for providing this good opportunity for Somali diplomats. They said that the training seminar for Somali diplomats in China will greatly enhance the understanding and cooperation between the two countries. They hoped that diplomats will make good use of this opportunity, play a great role in bilateral relations. Then, young Chinese and Somali diplomats had friendly exchanges and shared with each other their vision for the future of this longstanding relationship.
